Plans for a massive new stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, intended to host matches during the 2034 FIFA World Cup, have been unveiled.

The project, designed by the architecture firm Populous, was introduced by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City in collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports. Once completed, it will be the largest stadium in Saudi Arabia and rank among the world’s largest.

With a seating capacity of 92,000, the stadium is expected to be finished by the end of 2029 and will also become the home base for the Saudi Arabian national football team.

Situated in northern Riyadh along King Salman Road and next to King Abdulaziz Park, the stadium complex will feature an array of sports facilities, commercial spaces, and recreational amenities.

According to architecture firm Populous, the design takes inspiration from the natural terrain of Saudi Arabia. The firm described each element of the development as "a seed that breaks through the ground, symbolizing a vibrant yet organic addition to the landscape."

The stadium will offer a range of premium features, including a Royal Box, hospitality skyboxes and lounges, 300 VVIP seats, and 2,200 VIP seats. Additional highlights include internal display screens, rooftop gardens, and a walking path with sweeping views of King Abdulaziz Park.

Beyond the stadium, the broader development will host commercial spaces, football training grounds, dedicated fan zones, an aquatics center with an Olympic-sized pool, and a state-of-the-art athletics stadium.

The complex will also include an indoor sports hall and a community park for activities like volleyball, basketball, and padel. A 9-kilometer sports track will link these facilities to King Abdulaziz Park.
