What is The Best Tom Cruise Movie Ever Made?

The Best Ever Tom Cruise Movies

Like with most things in life, movies are subjective, but most of us can agree that Tom Cruise has been a part of some of the best movies ever made.

Undoubtedly the world's biggest movie star, certainly throughout the nineties and noughties, Tom Cruise has been in a wide array of some of the best action and sci-fi movies ever to have graced the Hollywood, and we take a look through some of his very best performances.

So, in no particular order, here are the best 10 movies that Tom Cruise has starred in...

Top Gun  (1986)

You can't make a Tom Cruise movie list without mentioning the 1986 classic, Top Gun. This was the movie that projected Cruise to another level in the movie world.  There was a time when every young boy wanted to be Maverick  - heck, he was even more of an idol than Superman!

Jerry Maguire   (1996)

When slick sports agent Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) has a crisis of conscience, he pens a heartfelt company - wide memo that promptly gets him fired. Desperate to hang on to the athletes that he represents, Jerry starts his own management firm, with only a single mother joining him in his new venture.  The Jerry Maguire film showed a different side to Cruise's acting skills in a slower paced drama, that differed from his usual action genres.

Vanilla Sky  (2001)

A big move with an even bigger twist, Vanilla Sky was the perfect masterpiece to kick off the new millennium for Tom Cruise. Vanilla Sky is packed with love, wealth and betrayal, and executed to perfection by Cruise and his fellow stars, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Kurt Russell.

A Few Good Men  (1992)

A Few Good Men is another movie that demonstrates the brilliant acting skills of Tom Cruise, in a build-up intense courtroom drama.  The acting genius of Jack Nicholson may have stolen the show in this movie, but the less experienced Cruise most certainly held is own.

The Last Samurai  (2003)

For many film critics, The Last Samurai was the greatest movie and acting performance of Tom Cruise's illustrious career.  This action drama had everything, from love, hate, aggrievement and forgiveness - all of which Cruise took on and nailed his performance.  This movie would certainly rank up there as one of Tom's best.

Mission: Impossible  (1996)

Based on the action drama series, this action thriller is an absolute classic movie in the Tom Cruise collection.  It started a sequel of MI movies, but this one ranks as the best for us.  Cruise was in his true element in the MI franchise - movies that could have been made just for him.

Legend  (1985)

Many of you might be too young to remember this movie, but Tom was in a pretty epic movie before starring in Top Gun.  Legend, a classic fairytale where Tom and his friends do everything possible to save the world and Princess Lili, from the evil Darkness.  If you've not seen this movie then be sure to add it to your 'to see' list - it still holds up.

Minority Report  (2002)

Don't you just love a movie with a big twist? Tom Cruise seemed set of this fantasy drama genre of movie at the beginning of the millennium, after his stint in Vanilla Sky, Minority Report came straight after.  An impressive 91% of film fans enjoyed this movie, raking it as one of Tom's best.

Born on the Fourth of July  (1989)

It seems odd that Born on the Fourth of July only received a 73% rating, as we rank it as one of Tom's very best acting performances. Question the movie all you like, but Tom Cruise delivers a masterful performance in this political drama, that will truly leave you with a lump in your throat.

Days of Thunder  (1990)

Days of Thunder almost felt like the second instalment of Top Gun, only on four wheels instead. This sport drama may have been cheesy in parts, with the delivery was more or less the same.  Tom played his part brilliantly, as ever.
