The Statue of Unity is the world's tallest statue, with a height of 182 metres, located near Kevadia in the state of Gujarat, India. It depicts Indian statesman and independence activist Vallabhbhai Patel, who was the first deputy prime minister and home minister of independent India and an adherent of Mahatma Gandhi. The statue is made from recycled farming materials. 


2. Spring Temple Buddha, China - 153 meters (502 feet)

The Spring Temple Buddha is a colossal statue depicting Vairocana Buddha located in the Zhaocun township of Lushan County, Henan, China, built from 1997 to 2008. It is located within the Fodushan Scenic Area, close to National Freeway no. 311.


3. Laykyun Setkyar, Myanmar - 116 meters (381 feet)

The Laykyun Sekkya Buddha is, as of 2018, the third-tallest statue in the world at 116 metres. Construction began in 1996, and finished in 2008. 


4. Ushiku Daibutsu, Japan - 110 meters (360 feet)

Ushiku Daibutsu is a statue located in Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Completed in 1993, it stands a total of 120 metres tall, including the 10 m base and 10m lotus platform. The statue held the record for the tallest statue from 1993 to 2008. As of 2023, it is one of the top five tallest statues in the world.


5. Guanyin of the South Sea of Sanya, China - 108 meters (354 feet)

The World's Tallest Statues

The Guanyin of Nanshan is a 108-metre statue of the bodhisattva Guanyin, sited on the south coast of China's island province Hainan near the Nanshan Temple of Sanya. It is currently the fifth tallest statue in the world. 

It is worth noting that the world's tallest statues may change over time as new statues are built or older ones are surpassed in height.
