British Football Grounds Set To Be Demolished or Redeveloped in 2025

In 2025, several notable British football grounds are set to be demolished as clubs move to new stadiums or undertake significant renovations.

Everton's Goodison Park will be replaced by a new 52,888-seater stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, scheduled to open during the 2024-25 season. This move will mark the end of Goodison Park's long history as Everton's home since 1892​.

Luton Town's Kenilworth Road is also slated for demolition as the club transitions to a new 23,000-seater stadium at Power Court. Groundworks have begun, with the new stadium expected to be ready by the 2027-28 season, although the club may wait until the 2028-29 season to move​.

Manchester City's Etihad Stadium will undergo significant redevelopment, including the demolition and reconstruction of the North Stand, increasing the stadium's capacity to over 60,000. This project is expected to be completed during the 2025-26 season​.

Anfield Expansion: Liverpool FC is expanding Anfield, adding an extra 7,000 seats to the Anfield Road stand, bringing the total capacity to 61,000. The project, initially slated for completion in 2023-24, faced delays and will now finish in the early weeks of the season.

Fulham's Riverside Stand: Fulham's redevelopment of the Riverside Stand at Craven Cottage will increase the stadium's capacity from 25,700 to 29,600. The project, which includes luxury features like a rooftop pool and riverfront restaurants, has faced delays but is ongoing​.

Villa Park North Stand: Aston Villa will redevelop the North Stand at Villa Park, adding 7,300 seats and increasing the stadium's capacity to over 50,000. The project will also include commercial spaces and improved accessibility, with completion aimed for May 2026.

Selhurst Park Main Stand: Crystal Palace is redeveloping the main stand at Selhurst Park to increase capacity from 26,000 to 34,000. The project includes acquiring adjacent properties and land​.

City Ground Redevelopment: Nottingham Forest plans to redevelop the City Ground, including a new 10,000-seat main stand, which will increase the stadium's capacity to over 38,000.
