COVID-19: 10 Productive Things You Can Do While in Quarantine

With the Coronavirus rapidly spreading across all the continents, the world is facing some uncertain times. Many of us are being forced to self-isolate. No one knows exactly how long this will go on for, and it is said that we could be on lock down for up to 18 months.

In this special article, we look at ten productive things you can do while you are isolating. Being stuck at home for such a long period of time doesn't have to be as dire as it seems. In fact, this could be a good thing for many of us.  Here's how to use this period to your advantage...

1. Learn a new language

With so much time spent at home, and for many of us on our own, take this opportunity to learn a new language. Just think, in six months' time, or whenever this whole episode is over, you could come out of it all speaking a new language. With tons of free online language courses, you could spend as little as one hour a day learning a new tongue.

2. Get fit

Just because you are locked away, that doesn't give you the excuse to stuff your face for six months and get fat. There are plenty of exercises you can do around your home, without the need for equipment. There are loads of personal trainers across YouTube, so, be sure to tune in, learn as much as you can, and when you are released back into the world again, you'll be in better shape than you could ever imagine.

3. Eat well

Make eating well your new and improved lifestyle habit. Get used to eating healthy foods, and cut down on the junk food that you'd usually indulge on during your normal day. Eating healthy foods will make you feel and look a whole lot better.

4. Learn to cook

For many of us, cooking can be a bit of a chore, especially after a hard day at work. Now, with so much time on your hands at home, could be the perfect opportunity to try your hand at some dishes. Learn to cook, and enjoy it with a passion. You'll find it rewarding and fun.

5. Family time

With so many of us working such a busy schedule, we often fail to realise just how little we actually talk to our families. Being isolated with your loved ones gives you the opportunity to talk to each other, regularly and freely. So, put down your phone, get off Facebook, and spend some actual time with your family.

6. Educate yourself

No could be the perfect time to broaden your knowledge in so many ways. There are millions of online courses and qualifications you can take. Why not use this period to better yourself with qualifications? This could be the only time you get to achieve something like this. Broaden your mind, learn, and become a better person.

7. Learn an instrument

So many of us regret not ever learning to play a musical instrument. Well, this is your chance. You'll have plenty of time on your hands, so, order a cheap guitar, keyboard, or whatever instrument takes your fancy, and start taking lessons online. You'll have so much fun.

8. DIY and decorating

There's always something to do around the house, so, use this time to fix odd ends, decorate the place, and maybe even try your hand at some carpentry, if you have the space to do so. You won't have a better opportunity to freshen up your home than now. You'll feel better for it, and it'll help lift the doom and gloom of the current situation.

9. Gardening

Get yourself in the garden (if you have one). Gardening is good for the body and mind. Also, this shut down couldn't have come at a better time for gardening lovers. Spring is here, and with it comes the sunshine and warmer climate.

10. Start a Vlog or Podcast

If you live on your own, then now could be the perfect opportunity to start an online podcast, blog, or vlog. Get your message out to the world, talk about subjects that you have a passion for, and make a name for yourself. This could really be the only opportunity you get.
