8. Manchester United 2008

Without a doubt, the class of 2008 was one of Sir Alex Ferguson's greatest teams. After seeing off Barcelona in the semi final, they eventually overcame a resilient Chelsea in the Moscow final on penalties.

7. Ajax 1995

Managed under Louis van Gaal, this young Ajax team stormed their way to the 1995 final, beating the champions AC Milan by a goal to nil. Many of this talented team left the famous Dutch club after this success to develop their careers around the biggest clubs in Europe. Stand out names included Patrick Kluivert, Ronald de Boer, Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids and Marc Overmars.

6. Bayern Munich 2013

The new brand of football was born. Bayern Munich put a swift end to Barcelona's dominance by destroying them in the semi final with a brutal blend of defensive and attacking play, before eventually overcoming their impressive German rivals, Borussia Dortmund in the final. This excellent team contained superstars such as Robben, Ribery and Muller.

5. Real Madrid 2002

With the amount of money spent, it was little surprise Real Madrid won the trophy with their full collection of Galacticos on show. Zinedine Zidane scored the greatest ever Champions League final goal to help this team of superstars see off Leverkusen. This Real Madrid team contained some star studied players like Raul, Figo and Roberto Carlos.

4. Manchester United 1999

David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs made up the perfect midfield that contained power, pace and precision. Their last gasp victory against Bayern Munich in the final will go down as one of the most remarkable sporting finales of all time.

3. Juventus 1996

In the mid 90s, Juventus took over from Milan's role as the dominant force in European football, and managed to reach three consecutive finals. The first one was won against the holders, Ajax, after a 1-1 draw and then a successful penalty shoot-out. This team contained a great blend of defensive prowess and attacking flair, with star studied names such as Edgar Davids and Zinedine Zidane. The only surprise was that they didn't win more titles than the single one they gained in 1996.

2. AC Milan 1994

The AC Milan team of 1994 was simply unstoppable. The defence alone will go down as one of the best in the history of the game, with Italian icons Tassotti and Maldini leading from the back. Their attack was pretty clinical too, destroying a brilliant Barcelona team 4-0 in the final. This will still be remembered as one of the most brutal displays of football shown in any Champions League final to date.

1. Barcelona 2011

This was the easiest choice to make on this list. Barcelona have had some magnificent teams over the Champions League era, including the 1994, 2006 (winners) and 2009 (winners) teams, but the 2011 team was in a league of its own. This brilliant team found their full groove, eventually wiping aside Manchester United 3-1 in the Wembley final. Lionel Messi, Xav, Iniesta...the list of star studied names goes on. For a team containing so much talent, it's a mystery they didn't achieve a hat full of Champions League successes during this period.
